Patton's SmartNode™ 4960 VoIP IAD Receives INTERNET TELEPHONY® Magazine's Product of the Year Award

Monday, January 22, 2007

GAITHERSBURG, MD: Patton Electronics—the leader in network-access, connectivity, and VoIP solutions—announced today that its SmartNode 4960 PRI VoIP IAD has been honored with INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine's 2006 Product of the Year award.

"Each year INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine bestows its Product of the Year awards on companies that have demonstrated excellence in technological advancement and application refinements," said Rich Tehrani, Group Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of INTERNET TELEPHONY. "Patton has demonstrated to the editors of INTERNET TELEPHONY that its products and services are committed to quality and innovation while addressing the real needs in the marketplace."

"We are extremely pleased to receive this award," said Scott Whittle, VP of Product Management. "Integrated, Interoperable, and transparent voice is a major focus among service providers and enterprise users of VoIP. This award recognizes all our efforts to deliver a leading edge voice platform with a technically and commercially compelling solution.

Built on the industry’s most interoperable VoIP platform, the SN4960 is the first major-brand PRI VoIP IAD to offer dual gig-Ethernet ports and hardware-accelerated voice encryption. A single-span, 30-call unit lists for just $2,995 — less than half the list price for a comparable AudioCodes or Cisco VoIP CPE.

Providing one to four T1/E1 PRI ports and 15 to 120 VoIP calls the SmartNode 4960 makes deep cuts in cost-per-subscriber for carriers rolling out VoIP business-trunking and corporate VoIP services. Patton's high-performance, low-cost CPE now makes those business models viable and profitable.

"We are proud of the SN4960 but our efforts don’t stop there," said Marco Liechti, Patton’s VoIP Product Manager. "When you combine hard work with the best engineers and technology, you keep innovating. We will soon ship these units with integrated xDSL interfaces for true single-box voice, data, and triple-play networking. Now that's exciting."

The SN4960 addresses real-world requirements in the demanding ISDN market, supporting business-class voice quality, and reliable T.38 fax transmission, transparent ISDN data over VoIP, and ISDN network synchronization and fallback. The new SmartNode is backed by Patton-Inalp's eight-plus years of experience in digital-gateway design, and a strong track record of live deployments in ISDN carrier networks—including one of Europe's earliest first-line VoIP services.

The Product of the Year Award winners for 2007 will be highlighted in the January and February 2007 issues of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine.
